Safety

Emergency numbers and practical advice

01

Korea is generally safe, but stay aware in crowds

Busy areas can feel comfortable even late, but basic awareness still matters. Keep bags closed, watch your phone in crowded stations, and agree on a meeting point with your group.

Crowded festivals and nightlife areas require extra patience.

02

Know the emergency numbers before you need them

For police, call 112. For fire or medical emergencies, call 119. Tourist interpretation help may be available through visitor hotlines depending on time and service.

Save key numbers in your phone before the trip.

03

Check weather alerts during summer and winter

Summer heat, heavy rain, typhoons, and winter ice can affect routes. Check the forecast each morning and adjust outdoor plans early.

Mountain walks, riverside routes, and island trips need extra weather caution.

04

Use official crossings and wait for signals

Traffic can be fast on wide roads, and some intersections are larger than they appear. Use crosswalks, underground passages, or pedestrian bridges when available.

Do not assume turning vehicles will behave like they do in your home country.

05

Keep hotel information easy to show

Save your hotel name, Korean address, phone number, and nearest station. If you get tired, lost, or need a taxi, showing this information is faster than explaining.
